Specimen

For the testing purposes, fresh whole blood needs to be collected, and serum or plasma should be promptly separated from the blood in order to prevent hemolysis.

After collection, serum/plasma should be stored under cool conditions and brought to the cassette as soon as possible. The quality of the specimen can affect result accuracy.

Using a capillary tube or dropper, the sample should be placed onto the specified section of the cassette. Immediately after that, the buffer dilution drops should be introduced to the cassette, in order to proceed with the test.

Form

The Cassette consists of a plastic box that contains the test strip inside. It has an area for sample placement and a window in which the lines will be displayed as a positive, negative or invalid test result.

The test strip is designed to detect the presence of feline herpes virus antigens in cat's serum or plasma, and produce a measurable result.
