Ingredients

Thiamine (Vitamin B1) is a water-soluble vitamin that helps the body convert carbohydrates, proteins, and fats into energy. It also helps maintain healthy nerve cells and offer protection against oxidative damage to cells.

In addition to its role in energy production and cellular protection, Thiamine is involved in the production of neurotransmitters, such as acetylcholine, which play a vital role in cognitive function and memory. It also aids in the production of red blood cells, which are responsible for delivering oxygen to the body's tissues and organs. Thiamine deficiency can lead to a condition called Beriberi, which can cause symptoms such as muscle weakness, fatigue, and nerve damage.

Uses

What are Vitamin B1 Tablets used for?

How are Vitamin B1 Tablets used?

This thiamine supplement is to be swallowed with water, taken preferably with a meal.

What dose of Vitamin B1 should be taken?

The recommended dosage of vitamin B1 is 1 tablet daily, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner. If patients have beriberi (vitamin B1 deficiency) or Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, doctors should give instructions about the dosage.

Do not exceed the recommended dose. A laxative effect may occur in case of overdose.

Is there a recommended duration for using this Vitamin B1 supplement?

This vitamin should be used as long as needed, but the dosage and the period for using it should be recommended by a professional. It should not be used for an extended period of time because it can result in an imbalance of other important B vitamins. Consult a doctor, to see what is the best duration for using this vitamin based on your needs.

Can this supplement interact with other medications?

Like other supplements, vitamin B1 can also interact with other supplements and medication. That is why it is crucial to inform your doctor about any prescribed or unprescribed medications and supplements that you are taking at the moment. Also, inform your doctor about your previous medical history.

This supplement can interact with digoxin, which is used for treating heart conditions. This drug can reduce the ability of the heart cells to absorb and use vitamin B1. Diuretics like furosemide and other loop diuretics can also reduce the amount of vitamin B1 in the body. Always inform your doctor about any diuretic you are taking before you start using vitamin B1. Dilantin can also lower the B1 levels in the body. Other adverse effects might also occur.

Which symptoms can be treated with this vitamin?

This supplement mainly focuses on symptoms of thiamine deficiency (beriberi). It can reduce the symptoms of headache, nausea, fatigue, irritability, abdominal discomfort, and depression. This product can also improve the metabolism of carbohydrates and can allow pyruvic acid to build up in the bloodstream.

Is this supplement a substitute for food?

No, this supplement should not be used as a substitute for food. Patients with beriberi syndrome should take vitamin B1 from supplements and food. This vitamin is contained in pork, beef, chicken, and other organ meats. It is also found in whole-grain cereals, rice, legumes, wheat germ, nuts, and brewer’s yeast.

Are there any precautions before taking Vitamin B1?

This vitamin is generally safe, but inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Also, inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical condition or if you are taking prescription drugs. This vitamin is safe, but it can lead to unwanted adverse effects if an overdose occurs. Taking any of the B vitamins for a longer period can lead to B vitamin imbalance. Consult a professional to check the best duration to use this supplement based on your needs.

Who can benefit the most from this supplement?

This supplement is extremely beneficial in patients with beriberi syndrome who lack vitamin B1. Alcoholics and people with Crohn’s disease can also have positive effects due to vitamin B1 supplementation. People who are under constant stress and have mood changes can improve their condition with regular intake of this vitamin.

Can pregnant and breastfeeding women take this vitamin?

Yes, this vitamin is recommended for these categories of patients. This supplement can benefit both the mother and the infant. It can boost the immune system, improve the metabolism, and lead to normal neurological development. However, pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult with a gynecologist to see if this supplement is appropriate for them. Patients should inform their doctors if they take some multivitamins that also contain vitamin B1 to avoid overdose reactions.

How should this supplement be stored?

This supplement should be stored in a dry and cool place and away from direct sunlight. Make sure to keep it away from children and pets.

Precautions

Consuming Vitamin B1 Tablets may result in unwanted side effects. The most common side effects are diarrhea and vomiting. If you notice any side effects, contact a healthcare professional as soon as possible. The recommendation is to reduce the dose or to stop consuming the supplement.

What is the study for Vitamin B1’s impact on stress in people?

Doctors often recommend this vitamin for patients with mood changes, anxiety, and depression. The main reason is that it can boost people's energy and improve the condition of the impaired immune system. This vitamin positively affects the neurological system in various ways. Many studies confirm that vitamin B1 positively affects people who suffer from stress.

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of B Vitamin Supplementation on Depressive Symptoms, Anxiety, and Stress: Effects on Healthy and ‘At-Risk’ Individuals

This study is a systematic review and meta-analysis that was done to examine the effects of vitamin B supplementation in individuals with mood changes. It also included people who are at risk of mood changes.

This was conducted by identifying the available randomized controlled trials of daily supplementation with vitamin B. It included 18 articles, of which 12 were eligible for meta-analysis. These studies included 2015 participants. Eleven articles reported a positive effect of vitamin B compared to the placebo groups. This included an improvement in overall mood. Those studies that included populations that are at risk of mood changes also reported positive mood effects.

However, these studies did not show any significant improvements in depressive patients. It also did not show any significance in cases with anxiety.

The conclusion of the study is that vitamin B supplementation in healthy and at-risk populations can improve mood and relieve stress. However, there were no proofs of improvements in cases of anxiety and depressive symptoms. This vitamin can contribute to health improvement in people who have increased risks due to poor nutrient status and poor mood status.
