Norepinephrine Bitartrate Injection is a drug used to treat severe, acute hypotension (low blood pressure) that may occur due to surgical procedures or medical conditions, including septic shock. This medicine is also used as an adjunct treatment during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Norepinephrine is an advanced life support (ACLS/PASL/NALS) medicine. It stimulates the adrenergic receptors, which produce both inotropic and vasopressor effects.

Uses
What is Norepinephrine Bitartrate used for?
It is used to treat life-threatening low blood pressure (hypotension). It is also used to treat cardiac arrest during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
How is Norepinephrine Bitartrate Injection used?
This medication is manufactured as a solution, which is intended to be administered by intravenous injection.
What dose should be given?
For weight-based treatment, the usual dose for adults is 0.02-1mcg/kg per minute, IV. The initial dose should be 0.1-0.5mcg/kg per minute, and then titrate to desired effect.
For non-weight based treatment, the usual dose for adults is 2-5mcg per minute, IV. The initial dose should be 8-12mcg per minute, and then titrate to desired effect.
For post-resuscitation stabilization or to treat acute hypertension in children aged 2-12 year olds, the usual dose is 0.1-2mcg/kg per minute, with an initial starting dose of 0.05-0.1mcg/kg per minute. The maximum dosage is 2mcg/kg/min.

Side Effects
