What is Hyoscine Butylbromide?

Active Ingredients: Hyoscine Butylbromide

Hyoscine Butylbromide Tablets are used to treat pain and discomfort caused by spasmodic activity in the abdomen or the digestive system. This medication can relieve pain associated with menstrual cramps or caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It is also effective in preventing bladder spasms.

Hyoscine Butylbromide is also known by the name scopolamine butylbromide or butylscopolamine.

Hyoscine Butylbromide is a belladonna alkaloid and quaternary ammonium derivative. It is classified as an antispasmodic and is a peripherally acting antimuscarinic and anticholinergic agent. It works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal and urinary systems. It should be noted that this drug's anticholinergic effects do not act on the central nervous system.

Hyoscine Butylbromide Tablets are produced with a dose of 10mg. The tablets are available in two packaging types: a box of 100 tablets or a bottle of 1000 tablets.

AdvaCare is a GMP manufacturer of Hyoscine Butylbromide Tablets. This medication is produced in our factories in China, India, and the USA. We routinely inspect our production facilities to ensure our products meet quality and safety standards.

Hyoscine butylbromide: a review of its use in the treatment of abdominal cramping and pain

The estimated prevalence of abdominal cramping and pain in the Western population is < or =30%.

This study focuses on reviewing the pharmacology and pharmacokinetic profile of hyoscine butylbromide and summarises efficacy and safety data from clinical trials of this drug for abdominal cramping and pain.

Ten placebo-controlled studies have assessed the efficacy and safety of oral or rectal hyoscine butylbromide. Each of these trials found hyoscine butylbromide to be beneficial, supporting its use for treating abdominal pain caused by cramping. Because hyoscine butylbromide is minimally absorbed into the bloodstream and does not cross the blood-brain barrier, it is generally well tolerated.

The conclusion of this study is that hyoscine butylbromide is a valuable treatment option for patients with symptoms of abdominal pain or discomfort associated with cramping.
