It is a first-line therapy used in combination with other antimycobacterial medicines, such as rifampin, Isoniazid, and pyrazinamide. Ethambutol HCl is an antitubercular agent. The active ingredient is thought to work by interfering with and impairing cell metabolism and inhibiting cell wall synthesis. It shows effective action against the Mycobacterium avium complex and Mycobacterium kansasii.
