What is Estazolam?

Therapeutic Class:

Active Ingredients: Estazolam

Estazolam Tablets are a sedative-hypnotic drug used to treat acute, transient, or short-term insomnia (difficulty sleeping). It is effective at increasing the time spent asleep as well as reducing awakenings during the night. This drug can be habit-forming so it is typically only prescribed for 7 to 10 days.

Estazolam is a thienodiazepine derivative that is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant. It has anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, sedative-hypnotic and muscle relaxant abilities. The active ingredient works by enhancing the effects of the chemical agent called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) which produces a calming effect in the brain.
