What is Cefpodoxime?

Cefpodoxime Tablets are a drug used to treat bacterial infections in many parts of the body, such as the respiratory system, urinary tract, bladder, skin, ears, sinus, throat, and tonsils. It is also used to treat gonorrhea and certain chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) flare-ups.
Cefpodoxime is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by interfering with the ability of bacteria to form cell walls.

What is Cefpodoxime used for?
It is used to treat bacterial infections, such as:

How should Cefpodoxime Tablets be used?
This medication is intended to be taken orally. Cefpodoxime Tablets should be taken with food.
What dose should be taken?
Recommended dosage may vary based on different medical conditions:
- For bronchitis, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years old is 200mg, taken every 12 hours.
- For ear infections, the usual dose for children over 2 months old is 5mg/kg, taken every 12 hours.
- For gonorrhea, the usual dose for adults is 200mg, taken once.
- For skin infections, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years old is 400mg, taken every 12 hours.
- For urinary tract infections and tonsillitis, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years old is 100mg, taken every 12 hours.
The dosage is based on medical condition, response to treatment, age, and weight. Refer to a doctor or pharmacist for guidelines on dosage. Do not exceed what they advise.
Side Effects
